Once you have selected a diamond, it is reassuring to know that your ring will be designed and crafted from the finest precious metals. At Hearts of London we use only the highest quality gold and platinum alloys to ensure a perfect finish every time. All our jewellery is hallmarked at the London Assay Office and carries the Hearts of London sponsors mark.

With a beautiful white tone, platinum is both rarer and stronger than gold and is perfect for realising the natural beauty of diamonds. Our platinum is thoroughly inspected before being used and finished pieces are stamped with our hallmark and those confirming the assay office and the purity of the metal.

We typically cast our platinum jewellery using an alloy with a content of 950 parts platinum per thousand, however, should the piece require additional rigidity or strength, our goldsmiths may choose to use a purer platinum alloy containing 999 parts platinum per thousand.

Our platinum is polished to a mirror finish and can be easily buffed up at home using a soft cloth. Customers can also return their platinum jewellery to our workshop for re-polishing and ultrasonic cleaning; this is a service we offer free of charge.

The gold used in our rings and other jewellery is also of the highest quality. As gold is not as strong as platinum, it is mixed with other metals to give it additional strength. The final alloy produced is then divided into 24 parts and hallmarked to indicate its composition. Hearts of London typically use 18k gold, comprised of 18 parts gold and 6 parts other metals.

Virtually all designs can be ordered in 18k white and 18k yellow gold. As a manufacturing jeweller, we can also accommodate special requests for green and rose gold. Some designs can also be cast in 22k yellow gold, again on special request.

Although not as strong as platinum, gold is easier to clean, repair and polish. In addition, our gold rings can be made in a variety of colours depending on the combination of metals used and can incorporate platinum setting prongs for the perfect diamond presentation.
