Colour: D - Colour
D: These diamonds are completely colourless and very rare. They have attained the very highest possible colour grading and no diamond has yet been unearthed that has a colour classification higher than D.
E: Diamonds given an E colour grading are also exceptionally white and rare. Appearing colourless to the naked eye, they are very often mistaken for D grade diamonds.
F: These are high quality diamonds yet still offer outstanding value for money. They too are classed as being colourless with no colouring visible to the naked eye and have a clear, white appearance.
G: G grade diamonds are the highest quality near colourless stones and represent exceptional value. They are white and have only a slight tinting that is only detectable by a professional gemmologist.
H: Diamonds graded as H provide an ideal balance between colour and cost. They are classed as being near colourless and have only a very faint yellow tint. This tinting can usually be overcome when the diamond is set with a white or yellow metal.
I: Customers wanting a larger diamond often choose I grade stones due to the fact that they are extremely affordable. These near colourless diamonds have a very light tint but also a fiery brilliance.
J: These are the most affordable near colourless diamonds. They display a very light yellow tint but also a warm brilliance. The tinting can also be offset by medium or strong blue fluorescence, making the diamond appear whiter.
Clarity: IF
IF: Flawless diamonds are those with the highest clarity grading. Stones awarded an FL grading have no internal inclusions or external blemishes when magnified. Those given an IF or internally flawless grading may have some very very minor surface imperfections.
VVS1: Very, Very Slightly Included VVS1 diamonds have a few microscopic inclusions but these are extremely difficult to detect even under 10x magnification. Without magnification though, they appear pristine.
VVS2: Very, Very Slightly Included VVS2 diamonds have microscopic inclusions that are also very difficult to detect under 10x magnification. Without magnification though, they appear pristine.
VS1: Very Slightly Included VS1 diamonds have a few tiny inclusions that are still difficult to detect under magnification. Less expensive than the higher grades, VS1 diamonds offer great value for money.
VS2: Very Slightly Included VS2 diamonds have small inclusions that can only be detected under 10x magnification. To the naked eye they are visually free from imperfections and again offer great value for money.
SI1: Slightly Included SI1 diamonds contain inclusions but these are not detectable to the untrained eye. SI1 and SI2 stones are typically used by upper market jewellery chains.
SI2: Slightly Included SI2 diamonds are similar to SI1 stones and appear blemish free to the naked eye. SI1 and SI2 stones are typically used by upper market jewellery chains. They are an ideal choice for customers with more modest budgets.
Cut (GIA): Good
Good: Diamonds with good cut proportions offer a fine balance of fire and life, reflecting most of the light that enters the stone. Stones classed as having a good cut can be significantly less expensive than those with very good proportions and are perfectly acceptable for use in most items of jewellery.
Very Good: Very good cut diamonds reflect almost as much light as those with an ideal cut, but offer a more cost-effective alternative.
Ideal: Diamonds graded as having an Ideal or Excellent cut are considered to exhibit the finest proportions based on their face-up appearance, design and craftsmanship. They also reflect almost all of the light as fire and brilliance.
Signature: The more exacting standards of these diamonds enable them to reflect the maximum brilliance. The signature cut also denotes our very best diamonds.
