IF: Flawless diamonds are those with the highest clarity grading. Stones awarded an FL grading have no internal inclusions or external blemishes when magnified. Those given an IF or internally flawless grading may have some very very minor surface imperfections.
VVS1: Very, Very Slightly Included VVS1 diamonds have a few microscopic inclusions but these are extremely difficult to detect even under 10x magnification. Without magnification though, they appear pristine.
VVS2: Very, Very Slightly Included VVS2 diamonds have microscopic inclusions that are also very difficult to detect under 10x magnification. Without magnification though, they appear pristine.
VS1: Very Slightly Included VS1 diamonds have a few tiny inclusions that are still difficult to detect under magnification. Less expensive than the higher grades, VS1 diamonds offer great value for money.
VS2: Very Slightly Included VS2 diamonds have small inclusions that can only be detected under 10x magnification. To the naked eye they are visually free from imperfections and again offer great value for money.
SI1: Slightly Included SI1 diamonds contain inclusions but these are not detectable to the untrained eye. SI1 and SI2 stones are typically used by upper market jewellery chains.
SI2: Slightly Included SI2 diamonds are similar to SI1 stones and appear blemish free to the naked eye. SI1 and SI2 stones are typically used by upper market jewellery chains. They are an ideal choice for customers with more modest budgets.
Cut (GIA): Good
Good: Diamonds with good cut proportions offer a fine balance of fire and life, reflecting most of the light that enters the stone. Stones classed as having a good cut can be significantly less expensive than those with very good proportions and are perfectly acceptable for use in most items of jewellery.
